The 2.5-star Kauai Sands is a quiet, budget
hotel with a beach front location. The hotel
provides budget vacationers, who don't plan
to spend a lot of time in their room, a
property that is well maintained, has an
attentive and helpful staff and is clean.
Kauai Sands has this, but their biggest
advantage is where they are. Located in the
charming town of Kapa'a, it is an ideal spot
to take advantage of everything Kauai has to
offer, because it is so centrally located on
what is known as the Coconut Coast.
Besides having an ideal location, they are
also adjacent to the Coconut Marketplace,
filled with unique shops and a large variety
of restaurants, including the renowned
Eggbert’s Family Restaurant, serving an
excellent breakfast and well worth the wait
however long the line is. The marketplace
features unique boutique style shops, bars
and nightly Hawaiian entertainment. The
hotel is also close to Kapa'a, a small town
that has a number of good restaurants and a
variety of shops selling unique items.
Property amenities include two outdoor
splash pools with large sun decks and a half
mile beach front walk. The beach has strong
tides and currents and is not considered
safe to swim in, except for the strongest
swimmers. But a short 5 minute drive takes
you to Lydgate Beach Park, with two
protected lagoons for both swimming and
snorkeling. In the same area, you can rent
kayaks to paddle up the Wailua River, the
only navigable river in the state, to a spot
where you can then hike to a lovely
waterfall. Other property amenities include
complimentary parking, laundry facilities,
24 hour front desk, business services,
fitness equipment, gift shop, security and
dry cleaning service. Al & Don's Restaurant
faces the ocean and is a casual dining spot
open for breakfast and dinner daily. |
