Directions:
You must walk the first 2 miles of
the
Kalalau Trail
to access this trail head. Follow
the Kalalau Trail for 2 miles to
Hanakapi'ai Beach. The trail is
located at the valley side of the
beach, heading inland. |

Permits (free) are required when
hiking beyond Hanakapi'ai Beach, to
the falls. Get permits from The
Kauai District State Parks Office

/ 808-241-3444). Camping costs $10
per day. |

OVERVIEW |

Pack your swimsuits and your rain gear, don
sturdy (and preferably waterproof) hiking
boots, and bring a camera. Ready? This is
the stuff of movies and fantasies: a tromp
through a wet, tropical rainforest, dotted
with sweet smelling guava and mango trees,
ending in a towering 300 foot waterfall. The
misty cloud forest and the rushing falls
make for a very surreal, jungle atmosphere.
Plus, there's a fine swimming hole at the
base of the falls. This hike, added to the
Kalalau Trail,
makes for a super day hike, perfect for
those who want a look at the Na Pali
coastline with an added waterfall bonus......... |
