OVERVIEW |
|
| |
|
|
| |
This spectacular trail, arguably one of the
best hikes of its length in the country,
hugs the rugged and remote Na Pali Coast,
providing the only land access to legendary
Kalalau Valley. Known the world over, the Na
Pali Coast, stretching from Ke'e Beach in
the north to Polihale State Park in the
west, has inspired poets, artists, and
photographers for thousands of years. Some
historians believe that this was the first
area in Kauai to be settled by the early
Hawaiians. The trail is not easy, and rarely
level, including some 5,000 feet of
cumulative elevation gain and loss. But for
the rugged outdoors person, the rewards are
worth the hot, grueling effort: sweeping
ocean vistas, dewy tropical rainforests, sea
caves, sugar white beaches, and lush valleys
rippled with streams and waterfalls......... |
