OVERVIEW |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Brennecke
beach is a very popular boogie boarding
beach located directly adjacent to Poipu
beach park. With a consistent and reliable
beach break, Brennecke is probably the best
boogie and body boarding location on the
south shore for tourists (advanced boogie
boarders will be lured to the deeper breaks
off of Popiu beach). Waves are largest
during the summer months. The break at
Brennecke can be rough even in small surf so
beginner boogie boarders should be
especially careful. Surfing is not allowed
at this beach. The sandy area of the beach
is small but a nice place to sit and
supervise kids in the water..
Hawaiian Green Sea turtles are often spotted
in the surf and seem to be having as much
fun as the boogie boarders.

Brennecke
Beach…from Koloa town, head south on Poipu
Road. Continue along on Poipu Road (HI-520)
until you merge into the “Welcome to Poipu
Beach” round-about. Continue around the
round-about and follow the sign “Poipu
Beach” (third exit) and continue for
approximately two miles. Turn right on
Hoowili Road and go approximately 0.2 miles
and you will dead end at Poipu Beach Park.
Turn left and drive another .25 miles and
Brennecke Beach will be on your right. Some
parking is along the road or you can park at
the free all day parking lots at Poipu Beach
Park and walk. |

PLEASE NOTE |
|
| |
|
|
| |
While
Hawaii's beaches can bring much enjoyment,
it is always a good practice to use common
sense while visiting them. Please be aware
of the wave & wind conditions before going
into the water. Mornings are usually best
for swimming, snorkeling or diving. Have
respect for the strength of the waves and be
aware that high surf can come up at any
time. NEVER turn your back to the ocean.
Be careful when exploring any rocky
shorelines. Waves can crash on the rocks and
knock you over easily, and the rocks may
also be sharp when walking on them.
When snorkeling or scuba diving, please have
respect for ocean life, and remember that
the coral reef is alive too. Avoid standing
on or touching if at all possible. |
