OVERVIEW |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Kalaeokamanu Heiau is on the north
side of the river along Kuamo’o Road, just
beyond the old Coco Palms Hotel. Here one
can find a flat-backed birthstone (pohaku
ho’ ohanau), where queens gave birth to
future kings, and the stone where the piko,
or umbilical cord, of a royal baby was left.
This heiau is believed to be one of the
oldest on Kauai and the site where several
religious traditions were introduced. |
