OVERVIEW |
|
| |
|
|
| |
The
Haraguchi Rice Mill is located on W.T.
Haraguchi Farm in beautiful Hanalei Valley,
on the North Shore of Kaua`i. It is owned by
the Haraguchi family, which still farms taro
on the adjacent lands that once supported
rice.
The Ho`opulapula Haraguchi Rice Mill is a
nonprofit organization dedicated to
preserving, documenting, and interpreting
this unique historic structure. Our weekly
public tours of both the rice mill and the
taro fields help support our free school
tours, educational programs and restoration
efforts.
The organization is guided by an unpaid
Board of Directors. These include President
Rodney Haraguchi, whose great-grandfather
and grandfather bought the mill in 1924; his
wife, Karol; and his brother, Willard. |

| |
The Rice
Mill Kiosk is located in Hanalei Town, on
Kaua`i's North Shore. Follow Kuhio Highway
(Hwy 560) north, past Princeville. Cross the
one-lane bridge and continue for about a
mile to the Rice Mill Kiosk next to Hanalei
Taro & Juice Co. Look for Hanalei Taro &
Juice Co on the makai (ocean) side (right
side going into town) of the highway.
Parking is located in the back of the kiosk. |
